GERMAN TOWNSHIP, Ind. — A firefighter died Monday after suffering a heart attack at his fire station.
Lt. Rick Drake, a volunteer with the German Township Fire Department, experienced severe chest pain while conducting equipment checks after returning from a call.
Lt. Drake’s wife called 911 to report the medical emergency and he was transported to a local hospital, but went into cardiac arrest en route.
Viewings will be held Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service.
All proceedings will be held at the Garden City Church of Christ, 3245 Jonesville Road, Columbus, Ind.
