KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City firefighter passed away on Friday during a fire department physical.
Firefighter and fire apparatus operator Richard Paul, 54, was walking on a treadmill during a heart stress test as part of the Kansas City Fire Department’s annual physical examination.
Firefighter Paul, a 33-year fire service veteran, may have suffered a heart attack, according to The Kansas City Star.
After his collapse, emergency crews treated and transported him to the local hospital where he died.
