INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — A well-liked lieutenant in the Independence fire department died unexpectedly Wednesday after a training session.
Edward D. Teare, 53, was pronounced dead 2:30 p.m. at Marymount Hospital. Members of his crew found him collapsed in his office a half hour earlier.
The Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office said Teare had finished an extensive training exercise wearing full gear when he complained of pain in his left arm. An autopsy is to be performed today.
