SOMERDALE, N.J. — Somerdale police Tuesday arrested a 51-year-old man who allegedly slashed 52 tires on police and fire department vehicles parked in their station parking lot over the weekend.

Edward J. Holmes III was identified Tuesday and soon afterward taken into custody after a police officer recognized surveillance images as showing a man who had come into the station late Sunday night to report a stolen bicycle.

About 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, an anonymous tipster reported that Holmes was at the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden, and he was arrested without incident.

Holmes was being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility on no bail warrants. He was charged with criminal mischief and related offenses.
