Police said Horace Shaw III was drunk driving when he crashed into another vehicle, killing Alyssa Pimentel and her unborn child.

DALLAS — An off-duty firefighter was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and crashing into another vehicle, killing a pregnant teen and her unborn child.

Dallas Morning News reported that Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighter Horace Shaw III was intoxicated and speeding on the highway when he rear-ended the vehicle of Alyssa Pimentel, 18, and her boyfriend, Isaiah Perez, 21, according to the report.

Pimentel and Perez were ejected from the vehicle upon impact, and Pimentel died at the scene. Her baby survived for less than an hour after being delivered at the hospital and Perez suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Shaw was arrested for intoxication manslaughter.
