YORK, Pa. — Acting Chief David Michaels confirmed the fire was arson.

Firefighters had to return to the home after 8 p.m. Thursday when a hot spot in the attic of one home sparked some flames. Michaels said the home had “hoarding conditions” and a hot piece of furniture sparked the hot spots, but it was quickly extinguished.

The total damage estimate between the four homes was $80,000, Michaels said. The two homes on the end weren’t as damaged, he added, but the two in the middle sustained the most damage. All are considered salvageable. A three-alarm fire damaged four homes and left three firefighters injured after it broke out Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of Walnut Street.
