HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest on Tuesday in connection with a fire that destroyed the HEMSI station on Jeff Road on Saturday.
Sergeant Brian Chaffin said Eric Mitchell Hall is responsible for setting the HEMSI station on fire, and for other burglary crimes in the area.
Hall was a former HEMSI employee, fired in Feb. 2014 for “many events, not one specific incident,” Chaffin said. Hall was a licensed EMT for two years before being terminated. HEMSI personnel reported a burglary to their ambulance on Jan. 25 at the Jeff Road station. Officials said a bag was taken from the ambulance, which contained the crew’s emergency medical supplies.
