Iowa woman arrested for 'Facebook arson'
Police: When victim unfriended Jennifer Harris on social networking site, Harris set fire to victim's home
DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines woman has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to the home of a former friend who had unfriended her on Facebook.
Nikki Rasmussen said that her friendship with Jennifer Harris began to disintegrate while trying to plan Harris's birthday party, according to ABC News. When Harris began ridiculing Rasmussen on Facebook, Rasmussen removed her from her friend list on the social networking site, the report said.
"I unfriended her and blocked her so I couldn't see what she was saying," she said.
Police say Harris set fire to Rasmussen's home on Oct. 27. The fire began in the garage and eventually led to the garage roof's collapse. Harris has been charged with first-degree arson and is being held in the Polk County Jail.
Rasmussen and her husband escaped from the fire unharmed.
