HUDSON, N.Y. — A second volunteer firefighter was arrested and charged with arson after an investigation and indictment Friday .
Ryan J. Hogencamp, 32, was arrested after a grand jury indicted him on 11 counts for his alleged involvement in setting fires.
Hogencamp was charged with three felony counts of arson, two felony counts of insurance fraud and three felony counts of falsifying business records. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of making a false written statement and falsely reporting an incident, reported the Daily Freeman.
Hogencamp was arraigned Friday, with his bail set at $35,000.
Former Hudson volunteer firefighter Lucas J. briggs, 23, was arrested and charged on one count of arson last year, along with, Tanner J. Rivenburgh, 20, in connection with a 2014 fire.
State Trooper Melissa McMorris stated that all three men were involved in at least one of the arsons. Both Hogencamp and Briggs were terminated from their positions.
While officials began investigating a car fire in 2014, “state police uncovered a trail of several other criminal acts that had occurred over the previous four years,” according to a state police press release.
The investigation concluded that the three men were also connected to an intentional barn fire in 2014 and another vehicle arson in 2012.
