TULSA, Okla. — A firefighter is recovering after being attacked Monday night at the scene of a house fire.
Firefighter Justin Weber was attempting to enter the home when Dale Parsons repeatedly struck him in the head with a flashlight.
“I got hit, seems like right here was the first strike, and then there was a few more here to the top of my head,” Weber explained to NewsOn6.
Officials said Weber went into the home to retrieve Parsons and another man, which is when Parsons began to hit the firefighter with a heavy duty metal flashlight. Weber was shoved by the unnamed man, knocking off his helmet and exposing his head.
According to firefighters, drugs and paraphernalia were found in the home; they suspect Parsons was attempting to retrieve them during the fire.
“We all know it can happen, it’s just a part of dealing with people,” Tulsa Fire Capt. Stan May said. “You don’t get to decide who you help and who you don’t help.”
Parsons was arrested following the assault and was booked in a county jail.
