NEW YORK — Police have arrested an FDNY lieutenant for allegedly strangling an EMT in an altercation during an EMS call in Brooklyn.

Lieutenant Neal Francis of Engine Company 234 was charged with strangulation, the New York Post reported.

The NYPD did not provide any specifics. A spokesperson for the FDNY told NBC New York that the department requested details from the NYPD for review and to determine any disciplinary action.

The Uniformed Fire Officers Association said in a statement to the Post that Francis “has had an unblemished record during his career as a lieutenant,” and to allow the investigation to proceed before drawing any conclusions.

There was no report on the condition of the EMT.
