2 NY firefighters hurt battling barn fire

One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation; the other received a minor neck injury caused by a fire hose

SENECA COUNTY, N.Y. — A barn fire in Seneca County injured two firefighters and killed 83 cattle Tuesday night.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, the fire broke out about 10:45 p.m. and spread quickly at a barn at 2908 Kuneytown Road in Fayette.

Firefighters from Fayette along with 11 other departments in Seneca County responded and one firefighter was overcome with heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. He was taken to Geneva General Hospital, according to the news release.
