PATERSON, N.J. — Two firefighters who sustained severe burns in a flashover over the weekend will remain in the hospital for treatment.
Firefighters were battling an apartment fire on the third floor when a flashover occurred, North Jersey reported.
“They did everything they could to get out of there,” Paterson Fire Chief Michael Postorino said. “The captain dove over the railing.”
Capt. Frank Liscio and Brian Hirschmanner suffered the worst burns city firefighters have seen in about a decade, according to the report. The two are undergoing treatment at a burn center.
Firefighter Daniel Alcala was also treated for burns, but was released from the hospital Sunday.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. There were no other injuries.
