HOUSTON — Firefighters at Station 51 have a new haircut after one of their own was diagnosed with cancer.
Click2Houston reported that Mark Herring, a 25-year veteran firefighter, was diagnosed with cancer two months ago.
His colleagues decided to support him by shaving their heads.
“One of your brothers is going through something huge like that, we’re going to make sure they know they’re not going through it alone,” firefighter Jack Miller said.
Firefighters throughout the Houston area have also supported Herring by donating their time.
“I would put my life on the line for them and they would do the same for me and I think that’s why they decided to do this for me,” Herring said.
