COLUMBIA, Mo. — A firefighter who was recently featured in a viral video died Monday after losing his battle with cancer.
FOX46 Charlotte reported that Marc Wright, a 25-year veteran of the Columbia Fire Department, performed “The Dance” by Garth Brooks while surrounded by family and friends in his hospital bed. He lost his three-year battle with cancer days later.
“He was an amazing man and as you can see had a beautiful voice,” Wright’s sister, Michele, said.
Wright’s cancer returned for a fourth time last summer, and he retired from the fire service Feb. 2017.

Garth Brooks commented on the video during his live stream.
“When you find a good voice for a good song, all of a sudden it takes on its own voice, and I’ve never heard ‘The Dance’ sung like this guy sings it.”
