CUMBERLAND, Maine — A 22-year-old firefighter died Wednesday after a battle with a rare form of cancer.
The Cumberland Fire Department announced the death of Brandon Thibeau via Facebook. He served the department since 2011. He also worked with North Yarmouth Fire Rescue.
Thibeau was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumors two years ago.
“Brandon was the person and firefighter we all wished we could be. He was motivated, compassionate, strong-willed, and most of all a hard worker,” the department wrote on Facebook. “He was taken from us too soon and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, brother, we’ll take it from here.”
Funeral arrangements are pending.
