LOS ANGELES — Firefighters were thanked on the Ellen DeGeneres Show for their efforts in battling wildfires and saving homes.
After a two-week hiatus from the show, DeGeneres said she spent some time with a team of 13 firefighters who drove five hours to protect her home.
“The fires were outrageous … there were over 8,500 firefighters that came from all over the United States. They worked 24-hour shifts on, 24-hour shifts off. Some of them didn’t sleep for three days. They were incredible people and I wanted to thank as many as I could,” she said.
“What they do every single day — we need to thank them every time we see a firefighter,” she added.
DeGeneres also said all firefighters are welcome to come to her show and be entertained as a way to say thank you for doing “wonderful things.”
