PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Mike Rowe honored wildland firefighters by featuring an institution dedicated to firefighter safety in his new Facebook Watch video series.

A press release reported that the “Dirty Jobs” host’s new series, “Returning the Favor,” featured Rowe and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey surprising Wildland Firefighter Guardian Institute founders Deborah Pfingston and Roxanne Preston at the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park with several donations, including a bronze statue of a Hotshot and $5,000 worth of STIHL Chainsaws.

The WFGI works to increase firefighter safety by conducting investigations, educating others and offering real-life support for firefighters.

“The important work the WFGI does to remember the ultimate sacrifice of the Hotshots and their work to help wildland firefighters across the country is worthy of this honor,” Gov. Ducey said.

“More than 36,000 visitors have come to the park since we opened it in November 2016,” Arizona State Parks & Trails Executive Director Sue Black said. “With the recognition from Mike Rowe and this statue honoring the fallen Hotshots, we know even more people will want to come to pay their respects.”
