JACKSON, Miss. — A firefighter crew was shot at by a man who crashed his vehicle into a gas pump and later died inside his burning car.
WAPT reported that the Jackson Fire Department responded to the scene to try and put out the flames sparked when the man struck the gas pump with his vehicle.
Jackson Police Department Chief James Davis said when firefighters approached the burning car, the man began shooting into the air.
Despite firefighters’ attempts to extinguish the blaze, the man died inside the vehicle.
Police said the vehicle involved had been stolen from another town. The man’s identity is unknown.
