In this episode, we’re talking burn buildings.

The best simulated fires come from actual homes, such as those that are abandoned or about to be demolished; setting them on fire is pretty realistic. But, most times, they’re not available when you need them, and they’re not especially safe.

So, we use burn buildings, even though they have limitations. Here to discuss those limitations on this episode is David Rhodes.

Rhodes has over three decades of fire service experience. He is a chief elder for the Georgia Smoke Diver program, a member of the FDIC Executive Advisory Board, as well as a training coordinator for FDIC. Rhodes is also president of Rhodes Consultants, Inc., which provides public safety training, consulting and promotional assessment.

Code 3 is hosted by award-winning journalist Scott Orr, who has covered the fire/EMS/police beat for most of his 30-plus year career in news. He’s worked around the country in both TV and print. Orr was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease over a decade ago, but that doesn’t stop him from interviewing fire service leaders on issues that concern firefighters around the nation.
