NEW YORK — A frightening video captured the moment a section of a burning apartment building tumbled onto FDNY firefighters, injuring one critically.

NY Post reported that four firefighters were injured while battling a three-story brownstone as flames shot out of the second and third floors. The firefighters were on the building’s staircase when a large piece of the roof collapsed on them. About 140 FDNY firefighters in 33 fire trucks responded to the fire.

“The cornice of the house fell in the front yard and hit about 15 firefighters who were in the front yard, as well as the stoop,” neighbor Jamal Stevenson said.

Of the four injured firefighters, three were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and one was reportedly critically injured.

Ten residents were displaced, but no civilians were injured in the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
