BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. — After receiving calls from concerned citizens Monday about a man coming into their homes offering safety inspections, the Baldwin County Fire Department posted on its Facebook page, asking the public for assistance.

Post: “Today we received information that someone described as a white male late 20s to early 30s wearing a t-shirt with gold letters with Baldwin County Fire Rescue on it has knocked on a door in the Country Club and 441N Misty Lane area wanting to check fire alarms and extinguishers and take measurements. Baldwin County Fire does not make these types of visits to any resident unless requested by a homeowner, if you have contact with this person please report this to Baldwin County Sheriff’s office, with a vehicle description if possible.”

Within minutes, Baldwin Facebook users responded and shared the information. As a result, Baldwin County deputies arrested Charles Gardner within hours of the original Facebook post.
