HOUSTON — A patient wielding a rifle allegedly threatened Houston firefighters who had just treated him on Tuesday.

According to Houston Fire Department officials, firefighters responded to the man’s home where they administered Narcan to save the man from an overdose, KTRK reports.

After regaining consciousness, the man allegedly became agitated, grabbed a rifle and told the first responders to leave, according to fire officials.

Firefighters left the residence and called police, saying the man had come outside with the rifle. Police surrounded the residence and the man surrendered without further incident, according to the Houston Police Department.

The man, whose name was not released, was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant.
