WASHINGTON — A firefighter and a resident were injured Tuesday morning in fire that damaged at least one apartment.
WJLA reported that a neighbor went into the building and rescued an 89-year-old woman from the fire.
A dehydrated firefighter and the resident were both taken to local hospitals with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The firefighter was treated and later released from the hospital, but officials do not know the status of the injured resident.
Fire officials said the apartment that caught fire was filled with junk; they described it as a hoarding situation.
