GREENVILLE, Texas — The circumstances surrounding the disappearance of retired Dallas firefighter Michael Chambers will be the topic of a future episode of the ID (Investigation and Discovery) channel’s “Disappeared.”
Sheriff Randy Meeks of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that executives with NBC (with which the ID channel is affiliated) had contacted the sheriff’s office several months ago saying they were interested in producing an episode about Chambers’ disappearance, and that the production team had been shooting recreated scenes in several locations in the Quinlan area this past week.
As of now, there is no tentative air date for the episode.
Last seen on the morning of March 10 on surveillance camera footage taken at the Quinlan Walmart, Chambers, 70, is believed to have disappeared from a residence in the 7000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2101.
Upon investigation of the scene, according to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, a small amount of blood was found in a workshop at the residence, but they didn’t observe any signs of a struggle though it’s believed that Chambers did not leave voluntarily.
Chambers is described as being 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 225 pounds, and balding with gray hair. It was also said that he frequently wears a Dallas Fire Department T-shirt and ball cap.
Despite multiple investigations by local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies, and an awareness campaign – that included a “Bring Papaw Home” page on GoFundMe and an electronic billboard at the intersection of Interstate 30 and Moulton Street – Chambers is still missing, 11 months after his disappearance.
“I am grateful that NBC has shown an interest in the case and are helping keep this case in the news,” Meeks said in his announcement. “I feel confident that the final product will cover many different aspects of this case and will hopefully lead to new tips coming in to the sheriff’s office.”
