SAN ANTONIO — A fire chief expressed his concern for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, saying the damage is worse than Hurricane Katrina.
Caller-Times reported that San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood said that unlike Katrina, Harvey will linger and bring large amounts of rain, which complicated rescue efforts for San Antonio responders deployed to Houston.
“This is going to be a bigger rescue effort than Katrina just because of the consistent rain,” Chief Hood said.
More than 1,100 evacuees have arrived in San Antonio since Thursday, and the city deployed personnel that have been sent to Rockport, Victoria and Refugio are now needed in Houston, Chief Hood said.
