Virginia task force on standby to help with Hurricane Dorian relief efforts

The VA-TF2 team already has 14 first responders in Puerto Rico assisting in relief efforts

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2), a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team, is currently preparing to send team members to Florida to assist with water rescue operations and relief efforts related to Hurricane Dorian, currently a Category 3 storm on track to hit Florida in the coming days.

According to WTKR 3, the Virginia Beach-based VA-TF2 previous sent 14 first responders to Puerto Rico to help with rescue efforts there, but the storm spared the U.S. territory any significant damage. The team now prepares for a new mission to Florida, although it has not yet received an official activation order.

The VA-TF2 team is made up of firefighters and specialty personnel.
