DENVER — A firefighter is stuck in a tree in Lefthand Canyon after a “wall of water” 15 to 20 feet high surged through the canyon, according to Boulder County officials.

The canyon has been closed off even to emergency responders due to the flooding, and residents in the area are being told to shelter in place until crews can get into the area.

Dispatchers indicated a dive team was headed into the canyon to try and rescue the firefighters. Dispatchers also referred to a “missing firefighter,” though Boulder County officials could not confirm if a second firefighter was missing.
