3 FDNY firefighters hurt in manhole explosion

They were all rushed to area hospitals, but are expected to survive; two utility workers were also injured in a different fire

NEW YORK — Three firefighters and two utility workers were injured Thursday night in two separate manhole explosions.

CBS New York reported that three FDNY firefighters were rushed to area hospitals after the explosion. At least one firefighter was escorted by police to a hospital, officials said.

The firefighters’ conditions were not immediately known, but all were expected to survive.

In an earlier incident, the two utility workers were injured while attending to a manhole fire. Their conditions were not immediately available.
