COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Five people were injured Monday night, two of them critically, in a four-vehicle crash about 8:45 p.m. near the intersection of Platte Avenue and Chelton Road.
The westbound lanes of Platte were expected to be closed for several hours, so it would be best to avoid the area.
The crash occurred on Platte just west of the intersection and there were wrecked vehicles on both sides of the road. One vehicle was on its side and the top of a red truck was cut off to remove a person inside. The area was strewn with glass and traffic was backed up in both directions of Platte.
According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, three ambulances were called to the scene, and five people were taken to the hospital.
