LA HABRA, Calif. — Two people were injured — one critically — after a car and a semi-truck collided at an intersection early Monday morning.

The 3:40 a.m. crash led to Beach Boulevard and Imperial Highway being closed for nearly five hours, according to La Habra police Sgt. Jeff Baylos.

Baylos said the man driving the car and his woman passenger were trapped and had to be freed by Los Angeles County firefighters.

They were taken to a local hospital. The driver was in stable condition while the passenger is in critical condition. Baylos said the woman is undergoing surgery for possible head injuries.

La Habra police said they’re still investigating what led to the collision.

Police issued a SigAlert for the intersection, which was cleared at 8:30 a.m.
