WHISTLER, British Columbia — A gondola tower has collapsed at Canada’s Whistler ski resort, trapping passengers inside two dangling gondolas.

Sgt. Steve Wright of the Whistler Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the gondolas are not in danger of falling and that there were no serious injuries.

The British Columbia ambulance service has dispatched six ambulances and an air ambulance to the scene and two people have already been taken to the hospital.

Firefighters are on the scene and trying to reach the gondolas and evacuate the passengers. Police say the cause of the accident is unknown.

Wright says the accident took place near Fitzsimmons Creek, between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.
