INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Fire Department announced Monday that former Fire Chief Keith Smith died at age 72.
Fox59.com reported that Chief Smith died after a long battle with an illness. Smith retired from the department in 2002 after being appointed in 1965. He was the chief from 1992-2000 before taking on similar roles at Westfield and Carmel fire departments in Indiana.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
