LODD: Ind. firefighter struck by train while responding to call

MCCORDSVILLE, Ind. — A firefighter was fatally struck Saturday by a train while responding to a call.

Volunteer firefighter Richard Rehm, 55, was dispatched to a call early Saturday when his vehicle became stuck on train tracks at a railroad crossing, reported WTHR. Following the incident, responders received calls that a vehicle had been struck at the crossing.

Rehm was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rehm served the McCordsville Fire Department for over 20 years. He leaves behind his wife and four children.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
