LODD: Pa. firefighter dies after responding to call

Volunteer firefighter James H. Yiengst, 72, was a 55-year veteran

MYERSTOWN, Pa. — A veteran volunteer firefighter died Saturday after responding to a motor vehicle crash.

U.S. Fire Administration reported that firefighter James H. Yiengst, 72, with Keystone Hook and Ladder Co. #1, responded to an MVA Friday night. The next morning, firefighter Yiengst began to feel ill.

He was treated and transported to the hospital, where he died.

Firefighter Yiengst was a 55-year veteran.
