LACEY, Wash. — A firefighter died at her home over the weekend, according to officials.

KING5 reported that Lacey Fire Department firefighter Crystal Murphy died, according to a Facebook post from the department.

Murphy served as a mentor for teen girls with an interest in firefighting, and co-coordinated the Capital Metro Fire Girls Camp, which gives girls between ages 14 and 18 an inside look at the fire service.

Several people posted memories about Murphy on Facebook and recalled how inspirational she was.
