LOS ANGELES — Officials say one person was killed and 10 others were injured in a fast-moving fire at a two-story motel in Los Angeles.
City News Service reports several people jumped from the second floor to escape the flames early Thursday in the Wilmington area.
City Fire spokesman Erik Scott says the fatal fire started just after 3 a.m. It took more than 100 firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze.
Scott says nine people sustained moderate to serious injuries. He says a child is among the injured.
KABC-TV reports more than 15 people have been displaced from the motel just north of the Port of Los Angeles.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Officials did not immediately release a damage estimate.
