CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The body of a fire chief has been found a month after he was swept away by a fast-moving creek.
GlobalNews.ca reported that Cache Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Clayton Cassidy, 59, was located a short distance away from a bridge washout area where he vanished May 5. Chief Cassidy was checking rising water levels when he disappeared. The Ashcroft Fire Department discovered his remains.
Chief Cassidy was a 30-year veteran and was awarded a medal for helping residents following the town’s devastating flood in 2015.
He was involved in the community as a coach in hockey, soccer and softball.
