BRAZORIA, Texas — A fire captain died Dec. 13 after battling an apartment fire, according to officials.
USFA reported that Brazoria Fire Department Captain Dene Barber, 56, responded to an apartment building fire and complained to colleagues about not feeling well after the fire was extinguished.
Captain Barber was treated by EMS on scene before being transported to the hospital, where he later died of a heart attack.
According to a Facebook post by BFD, a funeral was held for Captain Barber Dec. 17, with several EMS agencies and fire departments in attendance.
