Memphis firefighter killed in off-duty motorcycle crash

The firefighter was taken to a hospital in critical condition but did not survive

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An off-duty Memphis firefighter died in a motorcycle crash Friday night, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's office.

Public Information Officer Earl Ferrell said the firefighter, whose name has not been released, collided head-on with an SUV at Macon and Rebel roads in Cordova.

The firefighter was taken to Regional One in critical condition but did not survive, Ferrell said.

The sheriff's office has not issued any citations in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
