PILESGROVE, N.J. — A junior firefighter died Sunday after losing control of his truck.

NJ.com reported that Elmer Fire Department Junior Firefighter Timothy Crim, 17, was trying to pass another vehicle on the road with his pickup truck when he lost control and crashed, according to police.

“Today the Elmer Fire Department is mourning the loss of 17-year old Junior Firefighter Timothy Crim,” EFD posted on Facebook. “Tim joined the department at the age of 16 as a junior firefighter and was working his way up to becoming a probationary firefighter.”

Crim’s father was a former fire chief of the department before passing away, and his brother currently works there as a firefighter.
