Off-duty Wash. firefighter struck by car, killed

VANCOUVER, Wash. — An off-duty firefighter died in the hospital after he was hit by a car in Northeast Vancouver Thursday night.

According to police, 27-year-old Andrew Miller was struck by a vehicle while walking by his home near Northeast 112th Avenue and 5th Street. He was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

The 25-year-old driver stayed at the scene and is working with investigators. Police say it doesn’t look like alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
