EDGMONT, Pa. — A firefighter was killed in a car accident Saturday morning that left another man with life-threatening injuries.
Philly.com reported that Scott Jones, 33, died after a two-car crash sent both vehicles off the roadway and down an embankment.
Jones spent the last five years as a firefighter and paramedic with the Newtown Square (Pa.) Fire Company. He was also a volunteer with the Aston Township Fire Department and a career firefighter and EMT with the Media Fire Hook and Ladder Company.
“Scott and his family have been a staple in our [fire department] family, as well as our community, for many years,” Sean Joyce, president of the Aston Township Fire Department, said.
The other driver, Dante Monastra, 41, was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
State police are investigating the accident.
