DETROIT — An online fundraiser started by firefighters has raised more than $4,000 to reward information leading to an arrest in the killing of a Detroit firefighter.
MLive.com reported that firefighter David Madrigal, 59, was found beaten to death at his home last Monday. The medical examiner’s office said he died of blunt-force trauma to the head. Madrigal was just months away from retiring, with a party planned for June.
Police said belongings were stolen from his home, along with his SUV, which was later found several miles away.
Donations to the reward fun can be made here. Supporters have a goal of raising $10,000.
