NEW YORK — A production company is being sued over the fire that broke out on a movie set and killed an FDNY firefighter.

The Wrap reported that Edward Norton’s production company, Class 5 Films, is being sued in New York Supreme Court over the fire that broke out in a basement of a building being used for filming “Motherless in Brooklyn” and killed FDNY Lt. Michael Davidson.

The lawsuit was filed by two of the building’s tenants, Erica Cruz and George Cruz, who claim the company maintained “highly flammable equipment” in the building’s basement and the fire was a result of the “defendants’ recklessness, carelessness and negligence.”

The lawsuit also claims that Class 5 Films did not alert the tenants when they “became aware of the fire,” resulting in the Cruz’s apartment being destroyed.

“When representatives of Class 5, Inc., became aware of the fire, they did not warn the tenants in the building; in fact, they misled the tenants into believing there had been a fire that had been extinguished,” the lawsuit said.
