HUDSON, Fla. — The oldest FDNY firefighter turned 103 this week.
Retired firefighter Richard Krempler celebrated his birthday in Florida, with 28 other retired FDNY firefighters, reported NBC.
“He’s seen a lot of fire duties, six fire companies, and he just came in after the horse and buggies,” retired FDNY firefighter James Barry said. “That’s how the age at the fire department was when he joined.
Krempler received birthday wishes from Florida Governor Rick Scott. “May this be a special time and a very enjoyable date,” Gov. Scott said. “Recalling your memories of family and friends, and looking forward to a new year.”
