2 NC firefighters hurt in ceiling collapse

Both firefighters were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries

GASTONIA, N.C. — Two Gastonia firefighters were injured when a roof collapsed on them while battling a house fire late Thursday night.

Both firefighters were taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Firefighters were called to 3025 Courtland Drive at 10:08 p.m. Thursday for the fire. When firefighters arrived they could see smoke and flames coming from the rear portion of the two-story home, according to Chris Stowe, a spokesman for Gastonia Fire Department. Gastonia firefighters encountered heavy fire on the second floor of the home after entering.
