CORSICANA, Texas — With the temperatures topping 100 degrees in the area Saturday, several area fire departments battled a structure fire on SECR 0060 during the heat of the late afternoon.
Reports from the scene indicate two volunteeer firefighters were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, and a third is reported to have suffered a possible broken wrist in a fall.
The American Red Cross relief truck was on scene to help provide relief for firefighters with cold towels and beverages. A Corsicana EMS ambulance was also at the scene.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to a heavily wooded area surrounding the structure, but the building was a total loss.
No one was at the residence at the time of the fire, according to firefighters at the scene.
An album of photos taken at the scene is available on the Daily Sun Facebook page.
