PLAINFIELD, Ind. — Four firefighters were injured while battling two different fires in Plainfield Wednesday morning.

The first fire was at the Stafford Pointe Apartments, just north of I-70, around 12:30 a.m. Everyone was safely evacuated from the building, but three firefighters suffered minor injuries. “Two have been slight and actually both of those individuals are back to work. They’ve been cleared,” said Plainfield Fire Chief Brian Russell. “We did transport one firefighter [to the hospital] with a minor injury.”

Russell said three apartment units on the second floor were consumed by flames, while the three units below were heavily damaged by smoke and water. Displaced residents gathered in the complex’s clubhouse as American Red Cross volunteers worked to find them places to stay for the night.
