CHICAGO — Two days after a third of Chicago’s on-duty personnel went to fight one of the largest fires in recent history, the blaze rekindled Thursday.
The initial warehouse fire was the largest the city has seen in seven years and was burning again Thursday morning, according to CBS Chicago. The building is full of timber and the hotspots apparently restarted the blaze.
Because of sub-zero temperatures, the water firefighters are using to battle the flames have frozen, coating the building in six to eight inches of ice.
Firefighters may be at the scene for the next several days as they continue to contain the fire and watch out for any possible collapse.
